ROLE: Family Legal Assistant LOCATION: Full Time Lancaster SALARY: DOEPlease note that experienced Legal Assistants who do not have a background in Family Law will be considered My Client is currently recruiting a Family Legal assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the area's longest established firms of Solicitors, who boast a longstanding client base often dealing with many generations of families. This firm has a very low staff turnover due to their relaxed, flexible and friendly working environment with excellent career progression opportunities. The Family team are now looking to recruit a Legal Assistant dealing with divorce, finances and children work, including care work. Job Description Work will initially include administrative tasks: -(a) opening and closing files, (b) arranging appointments, (c) management of dairies including court deadlines, (d) audio typing, (e) Preparing invoices, legal aid applications and basic claims for payments, training will be given. There will be potential to develop the role to include case work such as preparation of court applications and documents, interviewing, preparing cases for counsel and attending court hearings and advice meetings with counsel. Knowledge, skills and qualifications Minimum of 1 years' experience in a legal practice Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Effective oral and written communication skills. Good IT skills Effective prioritisation with ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively. Previous knowledge of working with legal aid would be desirable although not essential.
