We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Rotherham to assist with the appointment of a Highway Structures Assistant Engineer , on a 3-month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration. Responsibilities: Provide a high-quality customer focussed technical service, including comprehensive technical advice in relation to highway structures schemes and work programmes including structural maintenance. Prepare design work to procedures and using engineering standards and codes of practice following evaluation of bridges and structures inspections utilising investigatory, feasibility, and analytical techniques Produce costs estimates, drawings, contract documents, bills of quantities and schedules of work Ensure the development and promotion of the Councils transportation and Highways Asset Management policies and strategies. Produce reports for Council representatives and clients Carry out highway structures site inspections and surveys and if appropriate initiate or assist with remedial action in the event of asset failure, reporting on progress of projects and work programmes to Senior Bridge Engineer. Collect, maintain and utilise complex technical data, including the use of computer based systems Liaise with departments/sections, agents and other outside bodies to ensure co-ordination of activities Supervise site works including acting as project manager for the contract and ensure that the required specifications and safety standards are met. Requirements: Level 7 qualification e. g. Post Graduate Certificates and Diplomas, or Level 6 qualification e. g. Bachelor Degrees, Graduate Certificates and Diplomas; plus post qualifying experience Experience of identifying all aspects of bridge & structural maintenance issues and schemes Considerable experience in the work of a bridges and structures team in a local Government environment, including structures design to.
