We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Susinteraction to assist with the appointment of a Passenger Assistant , on a 3-month contract , likely to be extended at clients discretion. Responsibilities: Very good communication skills, in order to communicate effectively with adults and children with special needs, their carers, family members and school staff, reporting any problems to parents, carers, school staff etc. and transferring information between the different venues, sensitively and professionally. This includes the ability to convey urgent messages by mobile telephone. Ability to communicate with passengers who have varying levels ofcommunication ability, including passengers who are non-verbal. High levels of patience and sensitivity, with the ability to deal and respond appropriately to adults and children with expressive behaviour, with care for their wellbeing. Ability to exercise sound judgement when problem solving. E. g. responding to challenging customer behaviour and medical episodes and managing changes to the journey. Ability to work as part of a team in order to deliver an outstanding service to our communities. Qualifications: Basic literacy and numeracy skills in order to answer questions from thepassengers, fill in time sheets and write incident reports. Previous experience working with, or caring for, in some capacity, children or adults with learning disabilities, other cognitive impairments, and physical and sensory impairments or are vulnerable, either through voluntary work, paid work or through family commitments.
