Ponca Tribe of Nebraska Domestic Violence Case Manager TC Approved: 08/07/22 Position: Domestic Violence Case Manager Position Number: 517 S Division: Tribal Affairs Department: Domestic Violence Reports To: Domestic Violence Director Location: Sioux City Exempt/Non-exempt: Non-exempt Salary: Grade 7 ($36,441.00 $55,545.33) Classification: Full-time (grant funded) Summary: The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a 'Service Delivery Area' comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational and cultural services.Individual shall work with the Ponca Tribe Department of Social Services to determine the extent of domestic violence within the Tribe's service areas of Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa. The main purpose is to provide advocacy, support, and assistance to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Ensures the availability of advocacy services and emergency shelter for victims of domestic, family and sexual violence in all service areas of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. Assists the Domestic Violence Program Coordinator with the Outreach Program in the service area as needed to reach victims of domestic, family and sexual violence and make them aware of our program and services. Assist the Domestic Violence Program Coordinator with the implementation of an awareness campaign targeted towards Native Americans with emphasis in education regarding domestic, family and sexual violence. Facilitates support groups (talking circles) for victims of domestic, family and sexual violence appropriately. Maintains strict confidentiality at all times. Travels to service areas of the Ponca Tribe to perform duties. Assists the Domestic Violence Program Coordinator in the facilitation of a domestic violence victim services program designed to assist Native American victims. Performs duties as the primary contact for the assigned service area(s). Develops partnerships with nonprofit, non-governmental victim services agencies in the respective service areas that can assist the tribe in its efforts. Assists in prosecution efforts; inform victims of their rights, advocate on their behalf and ensure that victims are provided access to courts, etc. Initiates assessment and investigation of referrals. Updates and maintains files. Other duties as assigned. Relationships and Authority: Travel and work within the scope of performing services for Native American adults in all Ponca Service areas according to domestic violence needs per grant guidelines. Working Environment and Physical Demands: Professional office environment. Qualifications: Minimum: Associate degree in counseling, human service or related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education. One year experience working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. One year experience developing, assisting and utilizing community resources. One year of victim support, advocacy, and counseling experience. Computer proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access programs. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable. Must successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks. Able and willing to travel Preferred: Bachelor degree in counseling, human service or related One or more years' experience of grant and budget management. Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe.
