SwimRVA is looking for a Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) who has the passion for safety and desire to utilize their training and certifications to further SwimRVA's impact and service to the community. The Lifeguard Instructor will plan and teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid/CPR/AED, and Administering Emergency Oxygen courses and assist with life safety in-services. This position requires non-traditional hours relying heavily on weekend and evening availability. Qualified candidates will have excellent communication and customer service skills along with the ability to build strong relationships with participants and staff and demonstrate the ability to be punctual and dependable. The mission of SwimRVA is to elevate swimming in the Richmond region making water safety and aquatic fitness more accessible to all. SwimRVA believes our strength and impact is driven by our people. The SwimRVA Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) job duties: Assist with the planning and running of weekly and monthly life safety in-service trainings at multiple locations. Ensure safety of all patrons, guests, and employees throughout the facility by assisting in training the professional rescuer team. Serve as front-line customer service for all course participants and their parents/guardians Conduct American Red Cross courses in the compliance with ARC requirements and to SwimRVA standards, including co-teaching with other certified LGI/LGI-T staff. Setup, breakdown, and cleanup of workspaces Keep accurate logs and digital records of in-service training and American Red Cross courses taught according to SwimRVA procedures Qualifications: Passion for safety American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED and Emergency Oxygen required Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) required American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor-Trainer (LGI-T) preferred Valid Driver's License and ability to drive between multiple sites Training available to qualified candidates Salary/Benefits: Part-Time position LGI is paid by class Free-employee Facility membership to multiple locations $25% off program fees
