Position Summary: Cabin & Cargo Engineering Field Engineers (EFE) are Project Engineers and/or Cabin Engineering experts who drive improvements at our supplier sites in their Engineering function in close coordination with Airbus Engineering teams based in Mobile and/or Hamburg. EFEs are typically assigned to a supplier site for the time of the mission or travel weekly to the supplier site. The job holder will optimize supplier processes and activities with respect to Airbus Engineering Processes, Methods and Tools (PMT) and lead to improved, robust and repeatable quality and delivery performance for Engineering deliverables. Primary Responsibilities: A Cabin & Cargo Engineering Field Engineer (EFE) is often part of a multi-functional team (supply chain quality, programs, procurement, and engineering) that will implement Corrective/Improvement/ Development/ Assessment missions at suppliers, using a variety of Airbus standardized tools and techniques, ensuring proper supplier development in alignment with Airbus Engineering processes. To do so, the Cabin & Cargo Engineering Field Engineer (EFE) has to establish and develop a very strong and sustainable relationship with both the Supplier and the Airbus stakeholders from the different functions involved, especially engineering. To deliver results in compliance with our business objectives and internal customers, the position will lead these missions to: Develop supplier relationship and exchange with Airbus Engineering teams through faster and customized exchanges steered by the EFE, with escalation as required followed by quick solution implementation support. Secure or restore supplier quality and on time delivery for Engineering deliverables Systematically apply Quality Standards such as PPS and DFMEAs Enhance supplier efficiency by increasing robustness in their engineering processes and help assure the creation of Continuous Improvement plans or road-maps. Set and follow long term development targets together with the suppliers. Initiate and steer suppliers' performance improvement projects (lean and change activities) Ensure sustainability of solutions deployed at suppliers. Generate Lessons Learned sessions between Airbus and suppliers. Support Airbus Engineering teams in charge of assessing the supplier's capacity, capability and performance related to Engineering processes and deliverables by actively following associated action plans with supplier. Ensure proper use and/or implementation of processes, methods and tools (PMT) to enable supplier development. Monitor supplier evolution and/or improvement throughout the mission using relevant parameters/KPIs, and prepare mission closure meeting when agreed with stakeholders. Ensure the transverse view (cross program) when applicable Report regularly and manage feedback to/from internal customers and stakeholders Support the improvement of Airbus processes, amongst others. Work in close cooperation and with support of all related Airbus functions Additional Responsibilities : Preparation of status reports to management Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: Strong relationship skills with demonstrated Airbus Supplier interfacing experience. Engineering development and/or Project Engineering experience in development or serial A/C program, involving certification and testing activities. Strong knowledge of key Airbus Engineering processes, and particularly Configuration Management related processes. Good knowledge and understanding of Airbus organization. Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of Continuous Improvement & Lean methodologies Knowledge in DOA, new developments process and FCO / customization process. Technical authority and technical authority processes knowledge is a plus. Experience working in manufacturing, supply chain, quality or manufacturing engineering fields related to the Cabin environment is a plus. Following areas of expertise are a real advantage: Configuration Management, FCO process and change process, Airworthiness, Engineering risk management, Cabin specifics (modules technical knowledge), knowledge of Quality Standards (PPS, DFMEA, etc.). Good project management, supplier management and /or team management skills. Good knowledge of MS Office and the Airbus toolset. Strong leadership skills, as well as assertiveness and diplomacy. Capable of working autonomously, remotely and be able to take decisions. Flexible team player across functions, complying with company values and behaviors. Education / Special Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent related experience with Airbus. Technical authority in a cabin related ATA chapter is a plus. Unique Position Details: Position requires long term assignment and/or weekly travel to supplier locations.
