Job Description: An Elementary School Teacher reports to the Elementary Principal and is a member of our Elementary Kindergarten-First Grade Team. An Elementary School Teacher at NYOS Charter School develops ways to help students grow in the classroom by setting an excellent example and providing lessons that meet the needs of all students. An Elementary School Teacher's responsibilities include managing a classroom, communicating and teaching one or more subjects clearly and within the bounds of school procedures. They must also monitor each student's progress and provide extra mentorship as needed. Ultimately, as an elementary school teacher you will work directly with students, peers, co-workers, administration, and parents to ensure the success and development of your classroom throughout the year. An Elementary School Teacher at NYOS Charter School will continue with their class from Kindergarten to First Grade, we call this looping. Once the class moves to Second Grade you will have a new Kindergarten Class. In this role you will also: Monitor students in a variety of educational environments (e.g., classroom, cafeteria, playground, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, study trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Utilize data to monitor learning and design lessons tailored to student needs. Establish standards-based objectives for all lessons and utilize clear criteria for evaluating lessons. Interpret student performance data and implement approved Response to Intervention Tiers 1, 2 and 3 Enforce and follow NYOS Charter School rules and policies. Actively participate in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and to improve student achievement. Use audiovisual aids, computers, and or other interactive technology to supplement and support lessons. Demonstrate a strong work ethic, accept responsibility, and the ability to be self-motivated. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Valid Texas teaching certificate and Texas ESL Certification required. Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area assigned. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding information concerning students, parents, staff, and classroom incidents. Pass an FBI fingerprinting background check. Compensation and Benefits: NYOS offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience, our teacher pay scale starts at $50,559 for 0 experience all the way up to $64,618 per year.
