Job Title : Recreation Driver Department : Recreation Reports to : Recreation Supervisor, Youth Programming Job Class: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Benefits: Free Club Fitness Membership Work Hours: Up to 19 hours per week. Flexible scheduling. Various shifts are offered depending on programming. BASC (shifts between 6:45 am - 9:45 am, 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm) Youth camps (day shifts depending on program), Senior trips (day shifts depending on program) Compensation : $15.00 per hour Position Summary : Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, Youth Programming, the Recreation Driver will participate in driving a 14-passenger bus to transport the children and seniors who participate in various Park District Programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Utilizing the Park District 14 - passenger minibus transports children participating in the Before and After School Care program to and from various local schools, as well as field trips during camp programming. May need to exit the bus and enter the school to check on participants as needed. Reviews daily sheets and routes, and ensures children are all present. Utilizing the Park District 14-passenger minibus, transports members of the senior club and senior programming to various field trips throughout the year. May perform other transportation duties as assigned. Performs all safety inspections on the bus as required before and after bus use. Ensures bus is safe for use each shift and reports any concerns immediately. During seasonal weather, ensures the bus is cleared of snow or debris and ready to use prior to the transportation shift. Ensures the safety of all patrons on the bus and reports any incidents to the supervisor. Performs other duties and functions as directed. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Adheres to all policies and procedures outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual, Personnel Policy Manual, and Safety Manual. Ensures daily cleanliness of bus. Reports further cleaning to Custodial Supervisor as needed. Promotes a positive and friendly work environment. Required Qualifications : Must be 21 years of age or older. Successfully pass a criminal and state driving record review CPR/First aid certified upon hire. Successfully pass post-offer physical exam including vision screening for company vehicle use. Competencies: Ability to cooperate with and interpret Park District philosophies in relation to governmental, public, and private groups or agencies, and to the general public. Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees, patrons, community groups, and other units of local government. Ability to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relations with both internal and external customers. Proficiency to read and write in English and organize effectively. Capacity to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements : Work area is both indoors and outdoors, in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting and outdoors in various weather conditions while operating the company vehicle.
