Reports to: Cost Reduction Manager Responsibilities: Coordinate the generation of cost savings opportunities and other activities as directed by management Estimate cost savings potential of identified VA initiatives Oversee VA study results to provide timely, accurate summaries that drive continuous improvement Identify and coordinate the implementation of cost savings initiatives with all departments as needed Monitor and report actual savings and progress towards company VA goals Communicate VA progress with Kasai KNA Attend customer VA activities as required Research and analyze plant and customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs and applications Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of materials, equipment, components and systems Develop and request testing of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification for cost reduction opportunities Follow established work practices that support compliance with all company policies, safety standards, 5S practices, regulatory and/or customer requirements Authorities for an employee are granted by means of work instructions, policies and procedures and/or direction provided by management to meet the requirements of the customer Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in related discipline and 1-3 years of work experience OR Associate's Degree in related discipline and 3-5 years of experience OR HS Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of experience Skills: Practical knowledge of Production and Supply Chain Ability to assess cost drivers of industrial processes and effective project execution Experience working with Windows operating system as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Basic understanding of various production processes and advanced continuous improvement skills Review of Kasai VA reporting system and process Knowledge of lean manufacturing principals, preferred Work Environment: This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands: The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may also be required to work in hot temperatures.
