Assistant Technical Director

Position Title: Assistant Technical Director Department: Production Position Summary: In conjunction with the Technical Director oversee maintain and implement scenic build items, scenic run crew, maintenance and repair of shop tools and machinery. Assist the Technical Director with implementation of scenic effects such as pyrotechnics, hydrotechnics, CO2, flight. Essential Functions: To uphold and implement Tuacahn's policy and procedures and to implement new policy and procedure for safe and consistent theatrical performance. In conjunction with the technical director establish yearly budgets and schedules for scenic and run crew departments. In conjunction with scenic designer's and technical director develop build drawings and build schedules for all Tuacahn events. In conjunction with the technical director develop schedules and deadlines for scenic and run departments. In conjunction with technical director, develop and implement all special effects elements including flight and pyro elements. Maintain and oversee all scenic elements for nightly repertoire performance. Maintain and keep logs for safety training and OSHA review. Maintain and keep logs for equipment/tool inventory, maintenance and repair. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in theater arts and 4 years' experience as a shop foreman for a professional theater. Preferred certified welder, extensive knowledge in construction of scenic elements including welding, and carpentry skills. Knowledgeable with computer aided drafting ability to produce drawings for construction of scenic elements from renderings. Ability to estimate and quantify needed materials for scenic designs from renderings. Knowledge of hydraulics water hold and release systems including Alcorn show control Ability to oversee and schedule large staff for scenic set construction. Ability to estimate and keep construction labor schedules. Knowledgeable in scenic automation and use. Knowledgeable in best practice and OSHA regulations. Knowledgeable in AEA production requirements. Skills/Abilities Passionate about technical theater and desire to become more proficient. Strong theatrical background and understanding of scenic construction and automation. Exhibits knowledge of proper production safety procedures. Calm / Professional demeanor, sense of humor encouraged. Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook. Experience with CAD programs such as Vectorworks and AutoCAD Exercise good judgment and discretion. Flexibility in projects and schedules. Ability to execute projects efficiently and according to schedule. Ability to work independently and to maintain a positive work atmosphere. Be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Lift heavy objects. Work schedule varies and includes evening and weekend hours. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
