Nature of Work This is responsible technical, field, and office work performing property appraisals and assisting with the coordination of the Anderson County Property Assessor's office. Incumbents assume responsibility for the assessment of properties within the County including all changes, improvements and new construction. Additional activities include prorating values and providing assistance and documentation to taxpayers. Incumbents also assist with general office administration responsibilities including answering phones and assisting with walk-up customers. Training and continuing education will be provided. Additionally, dedicated attention to detail and the ability to meet existing deadlines will be of utmost importance. Illustrative Examples of Work Excellent communication skills are of utmost importance. Ability to work with and explain property information to the public. Assists with reviewing for completeness and accuracy all land development information supplied by mappers and surveyors. Assists with maintaining yearly reports filed for mobile home parks, inventories, value and owner/renters. Answers phones and emails in a professional and courteous manner. Performs related duties as required, both in office and in the field. Necessary Requirements of Work Graduation from an accredited four year high school supplemented with additional course work or related fields; considerable experience working in real estate appraisal and/or property assessment preferred; experience working with the public; strong organizational and decision making skills; sufficient strength and agility to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job in a variety of weather conditions: Ability to interact with local officials and professionals, co-workers, property owners and the public in a courteous and tactful manner. Willing to take annual training classes on current job related functions. What is in it for you?
