Spanish Teacher - Full Time Academy of Mt. St. Ursula 330 Bedford Park Blvd. Bronx, NY 10458 Job Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with at least 2 years teaching experience preferred New York State Teaching certification preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Bilingual (Spanish/English) Commitment to equity and inclusion Job Description: AMSU is seeking a dedicated educator to work alongside the principal, assistant principal, and department chair to give our students a foundation in the speaking, reading, and writing of the Spanish language as well as an appreciation of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking/Latinx diaspora. Educators committed to the growth and success of a sisterhood of largely first-generation, college-bound learners are encouraged to apply. Core Responsibilities Develop and deliver Spanish I, II, and III curricula with the assistance and supervision of the department chair. Create a classroom environment and variety of daily activities that are engaging, student-centered, while meeting the needs of all students, and support the expectations set forth by AMSU's policies and procedures. Challenge students beyond translation and promote development in reading and listening comprehension, grammar and syntax, written expression, vocabulary and idiomatic expression usage, and exploration of Spanish-language literature and film. Use the school's learning management system to share resources and assignments as well as data that can be used by students for self-reflection and by teachers to inform instruction. Work collaboratively with the department and faculty to promote professional growth and sharing as well as interdisciplinary projects and activities. Communicate regularly and effectively with the school community's families as partners in constructing exceptional educational experiences. Note: The above description is inclusive of the tasks and responsibilities of AMSU educators and, specifically, those in the Language department. It is not inclusive of every aspect of the teaching role, as other responsibilities may regularly be assigned by AMSU administration.
