Senior Accountant, General & SEC Reporting

Description:
Records, interprets, and analyzes accounting records that support the financial statements. Prepares and/or reviews monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, analyzes accounting data, and performs monthly close procedures, including assisting in the compilation of financial statements and related schedules. Assist with the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual SEC financial statements and notes to the financial statements, including drafting/editing disclosures, processing changes, and ensuring accuracy and consistency of filings. The ideal individual is detailed oriented, results focused, and meets deadlines. The position requires an advanced understanding of accounting principles, an ability to identify accounting issues and provide input on solutions and recommendations, effective application of accounting standards to routine as well as unusual transactions, and an ability to complete tasks with a minimal degree of supervision. Job Duties: Prepare and/or review monthly journal entries, accounting analyses and account reconciliations in accordance with departmental standards. Review and analyze financial information, journal entries and accounting reports to ensure accuracy, timely processing, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory guidelines. Assist with the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual SEC financial statements and notes to the financial statements, including drafting/editing disclosures, processing changes and ensuring accuracy and consistency of filings. Coordinate requests for accounting and operational data from various business units, compile supporting accounting schedules for the SEC financial statements and notes and perform annual and quarterly tie-outs. Prepare monthly financial statements and other reports timely and accurately in compliance with (GAAP) and regulatory guidelines for assigned Resources. Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of variance analysis explanations. Prepare auditor (internal and external) requested financial statement supporting schedules (PBCs) and complete annual documentation updates of assigned business process walk throughs. Assist in the coordination of the quarterly reviews and annual audit with the external auditor. Lead or assist in providing supplemental accounting support for activities such as routine and ad -hoc financial analyses and reporting, implementation of new accounting processes, internal control and compliance activities, and special projects as required. Create and maintain documentation of assigned significant business processes and related accounting policies and job position responsibilities. Required Qualifications: Education: BBA in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. Experience: 4+ years of progressive general accounting experience required. Equivalent Experience: 2+ years of public accounting experience Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the corporation. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with general ledger accounting systems and reporting applications. Experience using regulatory (SEC) filing software (e.g., Workiva Wdesk) preferred. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneous. Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: CPA certificate or candidate preferred, but not required. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
