LS Technologies is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Washington, DC. This position involves information systems engineering, functional analysis of the Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) and Flow Management Web Services (FMWS) in support of system requirements, development, production, test and evaluation of related information systems. Includes, but not limited to, systems engineering activities oversight, demonstrated expertise with new and legacy systems, technical alternative analyses, acquisition management of information systems, and information management tools. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Position involves information systems engineering, functional analysis of the Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) and Flow Management Web Services (FMWS) in support of system requirements, development, production, test and evaluation of related information systems. Includes, but not limited to, systems engineering activities oversight, demonstrated expertise with new and legacy systems, technical alternative analyses, acquisition management of information systems, and information management tools. The primary focus of this position is to assist the TFMS Program Office in the future evolution of the TFMS and the overall objective of migrating the system progressively to a modernized re-architecture framework. To include the re-architecture of the TFMS/FMWS and migrating a set of 30 - 40 non-core applications to become stand-alone web-based applications. Support systems engineering analysis and concept refinement of the Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) for the strategic and tactical management of the National Airspace System (NAS). Collaborate systems engineering activities of TFMS automation system with Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) and nationwide Traffic Management Units (TMUs) to plan for FMWS. Support TFMS/FMWS concepts, requirements, cost estimation, solution implementation and/or in-service management Provide basis of estimate (BOE) to TFMS Program Office for applications to be migrated to FMWS. Lead integrator between TFMS technical teams, cloud application developers, and program control requirements to resolve issues and facilitate future program planning needs. The primary team lead for contractor staff supporting TFMS/FMWS operations, security, and systems engineering Required skills: A sound expertise in cloud infrastructure and demonstrated experience with Cloud Migration, with experience in the setup of key Cloud components such as networks, security, hardware, storage, and virtualization software Working knowledge and experience in Lift and Shift Migration; preferably with VMWare environment experience Versed in technology insertion to support FAA Tech Refresh activities Experience from analysis through test/authority to operate (ATO) of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Support the system requirements development utilizing Amazon Web Services tools such as AWS console, AWS-CloudCheckr, AWS EC2 - Secure Cloud Services, Amazon S3 - Cloud Object Storage, AWS RDS - Relational Database Services, AWS Virtual Private Cloud, and AWS CloudFront. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) and Microsoft Visio. Experience supporting engineering disciplines across a system lifecycle Knowledge of the FAA National Airspace System (NAS) and NAS information systems Desired skills: Working knowledge of organizational change management and operations migration Working knowledge and background in cybersecurity terminology and language Traffic Flow Management experience - Tower, TRACON, Enroute, and ATCSCC Effective interactions and communication with executives, managers, employees, customers, and stakeholders. Experience speaking to or demonstrating air traffic capabilities to large groups. Education: Master of Science degree in an engineering, mathematics, computer science or related discipline; in lieu of a Master of Science degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, mathematics, computer science or related discipline with 15 years of Air Traffic Control / Management (ATC/M) systems design and development support experience.
