POSITION SUMMARY The Graphic Designer reports to the Associate Director of Creative Services, and will beresponsible for graphic design and visual storytelling that engages, informs, and inspires,enhancing Covenant College's brand image. This position conceptualizes, creates, andproduces assets for a variety of marketing materials, focusing on print collateral and digitalgraphic elements. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of Adobe design softwareand be skilled in every step of the design process, from concept to final deliverable.Collaborating with multiple internal departments and the marketing team, the graphicdesigner should be able to take written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design thatconnects with the target audience. The successful candidate will have a thoroughunderstanding of branding and marketing, and be able to find the right style and layout forevery project and internal department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Assist the Associate Director of Creative Services with graphic design needs.2. Assist in graphic design projects for various departments on campus.3. Provide creative layout and design strategy for various marketing pieces includingprint /traditional collateral, ads, brochures/flyers, and digital design(email/webpage), and various other projects as needed.4. Assist with project management for creative efforts.5. Assist Associate Director of Creative Services with design layout for VIEW magazinepublication.6. Ensure design, visuals, and messaging across all media and campaigns meet brandstandards and guidelines.7. Collaborate closely with copywriters on content and layout design needs to elevatethe visual storytelling of Covenant College.8. Assist Associate Director of Creative Services with print production, pre-presschecks, proofing, etc with print vendors as needed.9. Manage design workflow and deadlines in a timely and efficient manner.10. Provide outstanding customer service to the College and its departments andprofessionally represent College in all business interactions and settings.11. Provide support on and/or lead other projects as assigned by the Director ofMarketing & Communications, and participate in committees and other forums thataddress the role of marketing at the College.12. Other duties may be assigned as needs arise. COMPETENCIES ● Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.● Proven project management and organizational skills● Demonstrated ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately● Self-starter with high attention to detail who can work with minimal supervision aswell as in a team environment.● Demonstrate strong oral, writing and editing skills● Ability to craft and implement strategies focused on marketing objectives and goals.● Ability to thoughtfully present and explain creative ideas to non-designers REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE ● Bachelor's or associate degree in graphic design or related field.● 3-4 years of experience working in related fields.● Highly creative with extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite● Solid understanding of typography, color, line, composition and design● Skilled in visually communicating complex ideas and processes.● Knowledge of advertising and marketing design best practices.● Ability to manage production of projects with outside vendors.● Proficiency with Google Drive, iOS, Microsoft, and other office software. PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE ● Prior work with a liberal arts college/university is preferred.● Familiarity with photography, videography and video editing is a plus.● Additional experience with infographic or graphic animation is a plus. ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ● An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.● An understanding of the mission and purpose of Covenant College.● Must be able to assent to Covenant College's Staff Commitments . PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT ● This role is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed orarranged for and operates primarily in a professional office environment routinelyusing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filingcabinets, fax machines and other job-related technology.● Remain in a stationary position at least 90% of the workday.● Lifting: occasionally; classified as light, lifting or lowering an object from one level toanother (includes upward pulling) up to 10 lbs.● Expressing or exchanging ideas and conversation by means of the spoken word;needs to be fluent and conversant using the English language.● Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.● Travel may be required occasionally, primarily for training or professionaladvancement.
