Description:
Geriatric Behavioral Health RN provides direct care to patients, utilizing the nursing process and a holistic perspective that includes mental, emotional, cultural and physical perspectives to determine patient needs. Provides comprehensive nursing care for patient, implements nursing component of therapeutic program, administers and teaches about medication, applies geropsychiatric nursing concepts and supervises LPNs and Nurse Aides. Must have current license with MS State Board of Nursing Must have BLS Gerontological or geriatric nursing experience, acute care medical-surgical nursing experience preferred Duties and responsibilities Completes physical and behavioral assessment Administers patients' medications Provides or supervises patient hygiene care Implements all aspects of the Basic Therapeutic Program for Unit patients Provides ongoing patient and family education and documentation Skills and qualifications Knowledge about ethical and legal issues including informed consent and advanced directives Excellent written and verbal communication skills
