Position Summary: The athletic trainer will provide coverage for school practices and games. Will perform care, prevention, evaluation, and treatment for athletic injuries. Will facilitate and participate in physical screenings of athletes. The athletic trainer will provide coverage and care for community-based events as needed. Will perform clinic duties as directed by the Director of Rehabilitation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Speaking to coaches, family members, and athletes to set health and fitness goals. Assisting and monitoring injured players as they heal and progress towards recovery Maintain records related to the athlete condition and training, diet, and treatment plan Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and facility staff Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Graduate of an athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) for athletic trainers. Licensed or eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer by the Mississippi Department of Health-Professional Licensure. BLS Healthcare Provider Certification. Physical Requirements: The Athletic Trainer must have the ability to move around freely, walk and stand for long periods of time; u se stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; u nderstand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance.
