Summary: The Cash Application Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of cash receipts, correspondence, and refund requests. This includes, but is not limited to, reading explanations of benefits (EOB), posting line item payments and denials, processing electronic payment and response files (837). This position will also perform tasks to resolve system edits, research and resolve credit balances, and perform adjustment processing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned) Daily posting and of all cash receipts and denials Review and process all correspondence Complete tasks as required to reconcile all deposits, payments, and adjustments Research and process refund requests and recoupments Research and resolve credit balances; generate refunds when applicable Post adjustments Document system(s) as described in standard operating procedure Perform error processing tasks Report and maintain all identified key metrics Required Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent 2+ years' experience posting cash receipts 3+ years' experience in healthcare setting Must be able to read and explain Explanations of Benefits (EOB) Able to use 10 Key by touch Knowledge of insurance carrier payment policies, practices and responses Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment Strong cognitive skills including analysis, problem solving, and decision making. Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to support data quality and integrity initiatives Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently within established timeframes Knowledge of Federal, state, and HIPAA privacy regulations. Preferred Qualifications: Clinical and/or Anatomic Pathology accounts receivable experience.
