CLARION HOSPITAL JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Emergency Medical Services Job Code: 1009 Position SummaryProvides emergency and non‑emergency treatment and transportation in the pre-hospital and inter-hospital environments at the basic life support level. Works with a variety of people and organizations on a professional level to provide care to patients and the community.Essential FunctionsProvides pre-hospital emergency patient care within the scope of an EMT in theCommonwealth of Pennsylvania.Completes all patient care documentation adequately according to DOH and departmentalguidelines and requirements within a twenty-four hour time frame.Operates emergency vehicles within the Pennsylvania laws governing the operation of suchvehicles.Performs routine inspections as required, inventory, and maintenance of all patient care equipment.Performs station as needed as assigned.Maintains familiarity with, and follows all rules of the hospital’s policies and procedures as outlined in the administrative and department policies or procedure manuals.Agrees to comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to the position and has a duty to report any suspected violations of the law or the standards of conduct to his or her immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Chief Executive Officer.The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major dutiesand responsibilities performed with or without reasonable accommodations by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be required to perform job-related tasks, duties, and/or responsibilities other than those specifically presented in this description.Reporting RelationshipsReports to: Paramedic Supervisor Supervises: NoneQualificationsMinimum of 21 years of age.High school diploma or equivalent or higher.Valid PA Department of Health certification as a BLS provider.Maintain current successful completion at all times in the following programs:·Basic Cardiac Life Support; and·Pre-hospital Trauma/Basic Trauma Life Support.Valid PA drivers license.Must not have been convicted within the last four years of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and within the last two years, has not been convicted of reckless driving, or had adriver's license suspended under the point system. Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) completion.HAZMAT R&I training within one (1) year of the date of employment.Meet all additional requirements as identified by the PA DOH including maintaining continuing education credits to maintain EMT Certification.Good customer service skills; able to exhibit cooperative communication with other employees, hospital consumers, and outside organizations who utilize CHEMS.Must acquire continuing education credits to maintain medical command authorization in accordance with the PA DOH requirements annually.Working ConditionsPhysical environment may include working in all ranges of inclement weather conditions, during all hours of the day.Specific rescue situations may present variable amounts of noise and potentially dangerous work settings during patient care and disentanglement and extrication.Hazards may include exertion in lifting and transferring patients, exposure to infectious disease, and occasionally working within the vicinity of moving vehicles, power rescue equipment, toxic chemicals, and high voltage.Must be alert to potential violent patient responses.Powered by JazzHR
