Closing Date: February 5, 2024 Reporting to the Manager, Geological Engineering, the Geotechnical Engineer is a key member of the Sparwood-based geotechnical team within Teck Coal. This is a 1-year temporary position. You will have the opportunity to perform slope stability backssments in the field, including by drone, interpret slope movement on instrumentation, and to perform and support stability analyses and designs. You will have the opportunity to perform a variety of geotechnical work to support active mining operations and reclamation and closure projects, including stability and rockfall analyses, reviewing and interpreting geotechnical monitoring data for pit slopes, waste rock dumps and natural slopes. There is opportunity to make your mark by applying geotechnical skills and expertise on a variety of projects and working with and learning from multi-disciplinary teams. To be successful, we require someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, who can develop and communicate practical recommendations to mine planners and operations personnel. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and experience in coordinating internal resources. This role requires a motivated self-starter, who can multi-task effectively and work collaboratively with others in a technical team-based environment.
