SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: The CNA/Health Screener will assist the school nurses by performing state-mandated vision, hearing and other required screenings for students in Pre-K-8. Upon completion of the screenings the CNA/Health Screener will be assigned and delegated tasks and responsibilities within the Nurse's Office under the direction and supervision of the Director of Student Support Services and the school nurse consistent with the Board of Registration in Nursing regulations (244 CMR 3.05). MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of skills within the scope of practice of a CNA including infection prevention, patient safety and proper body mechanics. Ability to collaborate with members of student's care team. Culturally proficient in speaking, writing and engaging a diverse, multi-lingual population. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Certified Nursing Assistant with a valid license to practice in Massachusetts. Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid. The CNA/Health Screener will complete the Massachusetts Department of Public Health hearing and vision training upon hire. Minimum of 48 college credits; or ability to Pass the Para Pro test or equivalent Experience working with children; in an educational setting preferred DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Perform state mandated school screenings •Assist school nurse with obtaining height and weight measurements and vital signs of students •Respect and maintain the confidentiality of students, families and staff •Perform CNA duties and all other duties as assigned and directed by a Registered Nurse (RN) TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Reports to: Director of Student Support Services and the School Nurse RN.
