The Maintenance Mechanic plans and provides mechanical equipment maintenance; troubleshoots and solves problems for manufacturing and building equipment. Maintains records and equipment to reduce delays, costs, and breakdowns. Contributes to a work environment where all employees work safely and respectfully with one another. Essential Functions include: Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment. Responsible for maintenance on plant machinery and equipment. Responds to repair and part requirements to maintain all machinery at its highest level of integrity. Communicates and coordinates with production and maintenance supervisory personnel, equipment needs and requirements. Provides assistance teaching others the necessary techniques and knowledge of trade. Maintains all tools and work areas in an orderly fashion. Interprets mechanical prints, drawings and technical data to conduct maintenance of machinery. Assists engineering and production departments in the development and execution of ideas to improve products, machinery and methods. Determines plant machinery needs and requirements and communicates repairs and adjustments to maintenance and production supervisory personnel. Assists with preventive/predictive maintenance programs. Assist electricians and engineers on routine tasks as needed. Knowledge, Education and Experience: A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education or experience is required. A minimum four years proven mechanical experience required. Ability to perform welding, pipefitting, and millwright techniques necessary. Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulics in manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with layout and fabrication work is ideal. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Ability to gather and record necessary information, follow through with assigned tasks, and identify and correct problems within a timely manner. Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under high pressure situations. Tolerance for repetitive work in a fast paced, high productive work environment.
