Sandstrom Products, Port Byron, IL is seeking to fill a purchasing manager opening. This person will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing the chemicals, raw materials and industrial equipment needed for manufacturing, as well as office supplies. As other sourcing needs arise the purchasing manager will be involved as needed. This job description is intended to define minimum job responsibilities for employee awareness and training purposes. The duties listed below are general guidelines that are expected, but not an extensive list of duties that may be required by management. Essential Job Functions: · Manage, monitor and report on raw material inventory.· Communicate purchasing and forecasting information regularly with the lab, production, sales, etc.· Review potential suppliers and maintain supplier quality records in accordance with the company's ISO 9001 quality standards.· Review and approve purchase requisitions within prescribed company guidelines.· Prepare and place orders, track shipments and resolve any discrepancies for company-wide purchases.· Comparative shop prices of commodity materials, search for offsets to meet specified requirements, etc., to reduce and improve company expenditures.· Assist in contract review, including company insurance, confidentiality agreements, lease agreements, etc.· Provide oversight of Accounts Payable, review of account assignment and invoice payment.· Maintain and have a general understanding of company certifications and subscriptions, including professional associations, packaging certifications, product certifications, etc.· Communicate with suppliers of products and services to advocate on behalf of the company.· Manage the purchasing process, including developing and maintaining supplier terms, reviewing performance, identifying and implementing corrective action as necessary and ensuring risk mitigation and continual improvement.· Evaluate inventory levels of current stock, keeping up to date with changes affecting both the supply of, and demand for, products and materials. Qualifications: Education: · Bachelor's degree in business field from an accredited institution· Minimum 5 years experience with purchasing or supply chain management Other Skills/Abilities: · Excellent written and oral communication skills· Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and basic level proficiency in Outlook and Access· Process-based, critical thinker who can build, maintain and continually improve a system as well as understand the connection between systems· Ability to work successfully both independently and collaboratively· Analytical- enjoys researching, compiling data, reporting, etc., to improve the business· Fast learner who can adapt with changes as necessary· Strong initiative· Organized and Detail-oriented· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously*All employees are required to abide by other company policy programs, e.g., Safety, FOD Prevention, etc.Sandstrom Products Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
