Commis Chef Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Location: Cirencester, Gloucestershire Salary: A GBP 20,879 : A GBP 20,948 per annum Hours: 35 hours per week on a variable: hours basis, as and when required on a rota system The Role We are seeking a dedicated individual to assist with the daily preparation of food in our catering department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining stock levels, implementing health and hygiene procedures, and ensuring compliance with departmental guidelines. The ideal candidate will be committed to upholding high standards of food production and customer service, possessing excellent product awareness and knowledge. Key Responsibilities Prepare dishes or foodstuffs for service in the food outlet in liaison with the senior Chefs. Follow directions from supervisors and senior chefs whilst carrying out the duties of the service Work in a clean organised manner to RAU SOPs and legislation. Prepare foods for special functions as required. Follow recognised standard recipes. Ensure that the kitchen stores and other potential areas of loss are secured at all times according to the instructions laid down by the management. Ensure that the highest standard of food hygiene and Health and Safety is maintained at all times as laid down by the Food Hygiene Regulations. Ensure that the quality, quantity, temperature and appearance of the completed dishes are of the highest possible standard before being served. Report and where possible, to attend to and take necessary action, statutory and otherwise, in the event of accident, fire, loss, theft, lost property, damage, unfit food or other irregularities and complete the necessary return and/or report. Ensure that University and statutory regulations pertaining to the safety and hygienic operations of the kitchen and ancillary areas are adhered to by you and others in the kitchen.
