FUNCTION :The Director of Nursing is responsible for supervising and coordinating thesmooth and effective daily operation of the Dialysis Facility to maintain a safe,efficient environment to provide optimum patient care. The Director of Nursing isalso responsible for providing a teaching environment in which training andeducation of the patient is provided in order that he/she may carry out allnecessary, CAPD, or CCPD functions in his/her home.The position is responsible for quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, staffdevelopment, business management, teamwork, culture and employeesatisfaction within a dialysis unit.The position is responsible for understanding, supporting, interpreting, andimplementing the philosophy and policies of the corporation.Assure the direction of assigned areas in accordance and compliance withstandards outlined in the facility procedure manuals, as well as regulations setforth by the company, state, and federal agencies. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES :1. Demonstrates applicable knowledge of policies and procedures related toclinical Director, Coordinator/RN job descriptions.2. Coordinates and supervises patient care and daily operations of the dialysisfacility.3. Provides leadership, direction, and encouragement to staff to developprofessional standards.4. Responsible for budgetary preparation, justification, and performance. Managesstaffing mix and patient scheduling to optimize patient outcomes and laborexpense control.5. Assumes responsibility and utilizes opportunities for personal and professionalgrowth.6. Performs additional duties and is responsible for specific projects according toability and experience to keep the unit functioning as efficiently as possible. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Current active RN state licensure.2. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.3. Minimum of 1 years experience in general nursing care plus minimum 6 monthsdialysis experience and if in charge of home training programs a minimum ofthree months dialysis self-training activity in the modality specialty whereapplicable.4. Prior supervisory and/or management experience required.5. Certification in Nephrology Nursing preferred.6. Excellent knowledge of water systems, bypass, and emergency water systemprocedures preferred.7. ICU/CCU experience desirable.8. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and general managementskills.9. Successful completion of training course in CCPD/CAPD.10. Valid driver’s license and insurance when using automobile to travel forbusiness purposes, ability to travel.11. Computer knowledge preferred.12. Demonstrates reliability, good work habits, and emotional maturity.13. Maintenance of current CPR Healthcare Recognition according to the AmericanHeart Association.14. Maintains a telephone and able to be contacted at home outside of normalbusiness operations.15. Possesses reliable transportation.
