The ideal candidate will work closely with inventors on new products, assist in identifying patentable inventions, and draft patent applications. They will also conduct research on patented technologies and track the patent application process. The successful candidate should have a background in electrical engineering or biotechnology and prior experience in patent law. Job Overview:Work closely with inventors on newly created productsIdentify patentable inventions and assist in drafting patent applicationsResearch current patented technologies to best assist clientsTrack the patent application process from initial filing to granted patentConduct ability searches regularlyRespond to client challenges and needs promptlyHandle office actions and correspondence with the U.S. Patent and Trademark OfficeMeet billable hour requirements consistentlyAssist patent attorneys in preparing and prosecuting patent applications Duties:Work hand-in-hand with inventors on newly created productsAssist in the identification of patentable inventionsResearch current patented technologies to best assist clients in patentable workDraft patent applications with the assistance of the patent teamTrack the patent application process from initial application to granted patent to ensure the team remains on trackComplete ability searches regularlySolve client challenges and respond to client needsRespond to office actions and correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark OfficeConsistently meet billable hour requirements Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in science or engineeringMaster’s Degree or PhD desiredUSPTO Registration required3+ years of professional experienceBackground in electrical engineering or biotechnologyPrior experience working in the area of patent law Skills:Strong communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent research abilitiesProficiency in drafting patent applicationsAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to work independently and within a teamTime management and organizational skills Independent lawyering with top of the market pay, this firm offers flexible hours, a good work/life balance, and diverse clientele.
