Climate Impacts Analyst and Knowledge Translator

Description:
This role works as part of a multi-disciplinary team that engages with users, providing relevant regional climate information and increasing user capacity to adapt to climate change. The position will obtain and use downscaled climate model projections to produce information that supports knowledge translation, application and co-production activities. The position reports to the Lead, Regional Climate Impacts and works closely with the User Engagement and Training Specialist. Primary Responsibilities Conducts climate change research and analysis that supports user engagement and knowledge transfer activities Works with external knowledge holders to backss regional impacts Prepares scientific reports, publications and presentations Delivers public presentations, reports and participates in workshops and forums Knowledge and Experience MSc in climate science or a related area, or a BSc and equivalent applied experience A thorough understanding of climate datasets, including their limitation and suitable applications Knowledge of, and experience in the application of a range of climate analysis tools Experience in synthesizing and communicating information derived from climate data analyses Skills Excellent writing skills Strong oral communication and presentation skills Data visualization skills Programming skills (shell scripting, R and Python) would be an asset Ability to: Listen to, understand and respond to user questions Synthesize and interpret information for a wide variety of audiences Work effectively with a team over a distance Interact professionally, respectfully and in culturally appropriate ways with a variety of disciplines and user groups Other Information: This is a full-time 2-year term position that is funded through an agreement with the British Columbia Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness Full-time (35 working hours per week) A successful candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to British Columbia.
