About the Job Opportunity As a key member of our Senior Leadership team, the Controller at CAC (Center for Action and Contemplation) plays a vital role in overseeing all accounting and financial operations of the organization. Leading the Accounting team, you will ensure high performance while nurturing a culture in line with CAC’s values. With extensive expertise in your field, you will manage general accounting functions and deliver accurate, timely reports to facilitate well-informed decision-making. Your leadership will uphold the organization's adherence to non-profit accounting principles and standards. As a leader of a smaller team, you'll also be a contributing member - reviewing journal entries, troubleshooting data, and supporting other hands-on projects as needed. This role demands attention to detail, strong leadership, and dedication to fostering a culture rooted in our mission and values. What You’ll Do Build and manage a world-class team, through team design and recruiting, effective communication of organizational and team purpose and goals, and consistent role modeling, feedback, and coaching in support of CAC’s cultural and professional goals and expectations. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, fixed assets, royalty payments, and cash management. Oversee and manage the maintenance of weekly cash flow projections. Maintains cash balances in compliance with organizational policies. Oversee the development of monthly reporting packages for the Finance Committee. Provide accurate, timely, and actionable data and financial reporting to senior and executive leadership for informed decision-making. Partner with the Director of Business Analytics on organizational budgeting activities, supporting the development, approval, and implementation of the detailed annual budget in alignment with integrated organizational budgeting processes. Develop and maintain financial system dashboards and other financial reporting tools and reports. Direct the development and implementation of internal control policies & procedures. Oversee and manage audits, 990 tax returns, sales tax, contract, and compliance functions. Direct the integrity of the accounting information by maintaining the organization's compliance with non-profit accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent experience required. 10+ years of experience in accounting with at least 4 years of management-level responsibility. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation or equivalent required. Prior experience effectively managing and leading a financial team. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Knowledge of Sage Intacct or similar software. Excellent ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Physical Requirements Sitting for long periods of time. Use of computer, keyboard and monitor is necessary. Must be able to speak English and hear spoken words. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package for full-time staff positions. At CAC, we are pleased to offer a salary range of $86,800 to $108,500 (based on experience) for this position. CAC salaries are one part of a generous total rewards package that also includes industry-leading flexibility, benefits, and paid leave. Salaries are established based on a grade system designed to ensure competitiveness with industry standards as well as pay equity. Final salary will be determined based on the specific qualifications of the candidate in relation to the salary grade and predetermined criteria.
