Network Engineer – Contract London hybrid working, 3 days per week WFH, with travel to sites when required. £500 - £540 p/d - inside IR35 Network Engineer required to join the newly formed IT Department of a well-known and public-facing critical national infrastructure business circa 2000 staff, 20 in IT with approx. Network Engineer – Contract London hybrid working, 3 days per week WFH, with travel to sites when required. £500 - £540 p/d - inside IR35 Network Engineer required to join the newly formed IT Department of a well-known and public-facing critical national infrastructure business circa 2000 staff, 20 in IT with approx. 40 sites in the UK, providing services to hundreds-of-thousands. You’ll operate as part of a small, highly capable IT team supporting fairly complex Infrastructure and contributing to large-scale projects. You'll initially be supporting a variety of projects detailed below, including assisting in resolving a number of security audit findings and closing off security vulnerabilities flagged up by a recent pen-test. You will also support the general administration and maintenance of network system and act as a 3rd line escalation point for tickets escalated up from the Service Desk. MAJOR UPCOMING PROJECT: Planned for mid-2023 will be a full upgrade of the organisations complex network from it’s current S2S VPN / MPLS configuration, over to SDWAN potentially based on Meraki or Palo Alto; final decision TBC. You will have considerable involvement in this project and, as such, you’ll gain highly valuable experience. Currently the role is split circa 50 Project vs 50 BAU support. Minimum required skills and experience: - CCNA or equivalent experience- Expert in setting up and maintaining VPNs- General Firewall / Switch configuration; experience with both Cisco and HP Switches would be beneficial, as would any exposure to Check Point firewalls. - Troubleshooting faulty sites - BT routers / Switch / Firewalls. - Experience.
