U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED to support our Federal client **NO EXCEPTIONS** JOB DESCRIPTION Journeyman Technical Writer will be responsible for creating high-quality, user-focused technical documentation to support Atlassian's suite of collaboration and productivity tools. Technical Writer will work closely with engineering, product, and support teams to gather requirements, design intuitive documentation architectures, and deliver clear and concise content that empowers our users. Technical writer will work closely with project stakeholders to identify skill gaps, knowledge areas and implement effective solutions. Specialist will possess key knowledge of Atlassian products including, but not limited to JIRA Service Manager, Confluence, Zephyr, and all related products. RESPONSIBILITIES Translate business requirements into well-architected solutions that best leverage the Atlassian suite of tools offered. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand product features and functionality, and identify user needs and pain points. Administer, configure, and support Jira and Confluence, including projects, spaces, permissions, users, roles, reporting, dashboards, workflows, custom fields, issue security, via scripting, add-ons, and the REST API. Document and maintain JIRA workflows, field configurations, screen schemes, permission schemes and notification schemes. Design and develop comprehensive documentation solutions, including but not limited to user guides, administrator manuals, SOPs, API references, and knowledge base articles. Organize and maintain documentation repositories, ensuring content is easily discoverable and up to date for the organizational stakeholders. Recommend and implement use of macros, forms, and Confluence add-ons for integration into team wiki. Continuously improve documentation based on user feedback, analytics, and evolving product requirements. Update and maintain existing documentation to reflect changes in software, products, or processes with Atlassian updates. Perform administration and services support as a subject matter expert for the Atlassian suite of tools. QUALIFICATIONS BS/BA in technical writing, English, communications, or related field Active Clearance: Public Trust Clearance or Secret Clearance or Ability to Obtain U.S. Citizenship Required for USG work. At least 5 years of experience with developing and editing military Technical Documentation. Strong writing skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely. Knowledge of technical writing principles, including document organization, style guidance, and formatting. Strong understanding of software development methodologies, include Agile. Experience with Java, JavaScript, Groovy script, SQL, JQuery, HTML/XHTML/CSS, REST APIs Experience with other similar tools like ServiceNow and Tableau An ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles. Possess the ability to communicate with others effectively both orally and in writing in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to the Technical Data products. Remote - Chosen Candidate MUST Live in Eastern or Central Time Zone - No Exceptions! Remote: Must be willing to work in the DC Metro Area Quarterly. DESIRED SKILLS Experience working with Agile methodologies. Experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing architectures. Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple training initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines. Experience producing technical documentation to communicate standard operating procedures and detailed analysis. Experience working with cross functional teams and demonstrating strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with federal clients. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to provide quick solutions to issues. Experience generating data products and reports that organize data in a consumable format for a broad range of stakeholders, including interactive data visualizations and infographics. CERTIFICATIONS Certified CompTIA, Microsoft, or related industry certification preferred.
