Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our dynamic team at Peak ENT Associates. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical coding and billing procedures, with a focus on accuracy and compliance. The Medical Coder will play a critical role in ensuring the proper documentation and coding of medical services provided by our healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities: 1. Review medical records and documentation to accurately assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes according to established coding guidelines (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS). 2. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and coding guidelines to facilitate accurate billing and reimbursement. 3. Work closely with healthcare providers and other members of the healthcare team to clarify documentation and resolve coding-related issues. 4. Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and identify opportunities for improvement. 5. Stay current with changes in coding regulations, reimbursement policies, and healthcare industry trends. 6. Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle management teams to optimize coding processes and revenue capture. 7. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations. 8. Participate in training sessions and continuing education programs to enhance coding skills and knowledge. Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) preferred and required within 1 year. 2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in an ENT or healthcare setting. 3. Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. 4. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. 5. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. 6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 8. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
