REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be a citizen of the United States. * Must be of good character and habits. * Must pass a physical examination and police officer selection test given at Pennsylvania CareerLink @ Mercer County. * Must be age 21 before the deadline for submitting applications. * Must be a high school graduate or equivalency certification. * Must have current Pennsylvania Act 120 certification and a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS: * Current starting wage $52,841, current top wage (6 years) $79,975 * Annual contractual wage increases * Healthcare and fully paid life insurance, vision and dental coverage. * Short-term and long-term disability coverage * Vacation (80 hours), Personal (24 hours), sick leave (48 hours), holiday (80 hours) * Pension plan * $600 annual uniform/equipment payment * 40% healthcare opt-out reimbursement available worth $3,538 to $11,346 depending on coverage.The City of Hermitage is a third class, home rule city consisting of over 30 square miles and approximately 17,000 residents. The department consists of 33 full-time officers including criminal investigators, corporals, sergeants, deputy chiefs and chief of police and civilian support staff. The department has a K-9 unit and 2 school resource officers, an excellent police station facility and equipment. The department regularly provides specialized officer training opportunities and several officers have graduated from the FBI National Academy.
