SUMMARY OF DUTIES: An employee in this position is responsible for assisting in creating a vibrant activities program by conducting individual and group activities. on weekends. An employee in this position assists in the planning and coordination of activities for residents in a Home for Aged (HFA) Assisted Living and Memory Care environment. An employee in this position works under the supervision of the Life Enrichment Director. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with planned activities by setting up the activity area, gathering residents, leading them through the activity, and assist with escorting residents back to their apartments. Interact with residents in a positive manner, encouraging them to be as active and independent as possible. Help plan and chaperon resident outings into the community. May include transportation of residents to appointments and/or outside activities. Assist in planning of activities, proactively sharing new ideas and suggestions. Maintain bulletin boards with relevant information for the community. Direct volunteers with tasks that need to be done. Tracks resident activity participation. Attend monthly Resident Council meetings for feedback on activities. Visit resident's one-on-one to provide socialization. Assist in setting up and taking down seasonal decorations. Maintain a cheerful, comfortable environment for residents, guests, and staff Provides ongoing communication with residents and, as necessary, family members. Assist residents in a Home for Aged (HFA) Assisted Living and Memory Care at mealtimes with tasks as they arise such as feeding, plating of food, drinks and setting tables. Become familiar with location of community's Disaster Manual and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and the reporting system specified in the Right to know policy. Excellent attendance, timeliness in reporting to work, and discussion of all absences, injuries and illnesses with the Deputy Director. Attend a minimum of 6 in-service training programs per 12-month period. Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor. POSITION REQUIREMENTS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Good multitasking and prioritizing skills, including ability to meet deadlines, solve problems, act independently, and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to react quickly and decisively in the event of an emergency. Affinity for seniors and genuine care regarding their well-being with an ability to maintain appropriate attitude and conduct for the welfare of residents; compassionate; demonstrate an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the resident and an understanding of their rights, the aging process, and diseases of the elderly. Present an open, positive, and professional image to all residents, visitors, co-workers, and public by displaying general warmth and kindness in a friendly, courteous and respectful manner always under all circumstances. Display honesty, integrity, dependability, and ability to work as a team member, possess good interpersonal skills and maintain a positive attitude toward employment; ability to communicate effectively and appropriately and maintain confidentiality of resident's information in compliance with HIPPA regulations. Reliable transportation to work with flexibility to work on any day of the week, any designated shift. Ability to identify own personal strengths and weaknesses and discuss with supervisor. Satisfactory references, background check, drug screen, pre-employment physical and current PPD (or chest X-Ray) for tuberculosis. Physical ability is a necessity to help transport residents. Basic knowledge of computers and technology. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School or GED equivalent. Experience, education and/or training in activities with adults. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Speaking and hearing are required to perform job responsibilities; reading/writing; understanding directions and communicate verbally. Employee must be in good physical health and can climb, balance, crouch, reach, walk, sit, lift, grasp, perform repetitive motions involving bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, wrist motions and foot operations; ability to stand for an extended period without significant rest period; Powered by JazzHR
