­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Announcement # 2024-146 Issue Date: 05-08-24 Closing Date: 05-21-24 CHA II/Program Assistant Area Agency on Aging (AAoA) Department of Human Services Hourly Wage: $15.92/Regular/Full-Time Substitutes as driver for the Meals-on-Wheels program as needed and delivers meals to elderly clients, is knowledgeable and skilled in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in & around the food prep area. Responsible for performing routine semi-skilled building maintenance and grounds work in an outdoor work environment. Demonstrates skill at following and maintaining a schedule to ensure sanitation and cleanliness of the entire AAoA Program Building, sheds and Wanity Kitchen. Assists with transportation of elderly clients to essential services or social activities and other duties as assigned, maintains and operates all program vehicles in a safe manner. Examples of Work Performed: Substitutes as Meals-on-Wheels Driver as assigned. Performs routine custodian work, gardening, snow removal, applies de-ice, minor machine repairs in and around the AAoA program building or at Wanity Kitchen. Assists with client transportation services as assigned. Assists with weatherization of client homes, and minor home repair projects. Reports changes or emergent needs of the client to the immediate supervisor or calls 911. Attends trainings, staff meetings and keeps updated on First Aid/CPR and Food Handlers certifications. Performs other duties assigned by the supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledgeable of estimating materials needed to weatherize client homes and the ability to install plastic covers on windows, weather stripping or door sweeps. Knowledge of the Yakama Reservation and surrounding areas in order to locate client homes. Knowledge of community resources and ability to learn. Skills in using hand tools and power tools, weed killer, operating a lawn mower, and using a gas or electric trimmer. Ability to empathize and understand the need of elderly and disabled persons. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to function in a culturally diverse environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the general public. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to learn or acquire health and safety practices in food preparation as it pertains to meels-on-wheels operations. Ability to learn carpentry and painting. Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Washington State Drivers license with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit. Required to pass pre-employment drug test. Required to pass pre-employment background check. No previous record of adult or child abuse/exploitation. Must obtain a Washington State Food Handler's card upon hire. Submit a complete driving abstract and have a good driving record. Must be physically capable of performing the requirements of the position. Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. Preferred Requirements: Complete First Aid/CPR training within six months of hire. Must successfully complete a defensive driving course through YN Tribal Insurance Program Sufficient health, strength, agility, dexterity, vision and hearing in order to perform the work of the position in a safe manner which includes recognizing and adapting to adverse weather/road conditions, approaching train crossings, changing lanes on roadways/highways, approaching traffic lights, maneuvering through a traffic turnabout, approaching a 4-way stop sign and utilizing proper lifting techniques to move equipment, lifting bags of food, and loading.
