We are seeking a high school resource program coach who is passionate about educational equity, driven by student and family relationships, and provides intentional support for their students. Vision for Instructional Coaching at KIPP DC At KIPP DC, we believe the quality of instruction defines the rate and quality of student achievement. Teaching and learning is at the core of everything we do. The role of an instructional coach is a position of leadership; the work is to support leaders and teachers in ensuring all students learn and achieve within classrooms that are intentional, rigorous, and joyful. The person in this position will demonstrate a relentless drive toward excellence and a commitment to ensuring that our instruction puts children on a successful path to and through college or career. This role will support and be located at KIPP DC’s elementary, middle, or high schools. This is an exempt position and reports to a Director of Student Support. Key Responsibilities: Coaching and Professional Development (60%): Analyze teacher and student performance data to design, coordinate and facilitate professional development to increase teacher and leader expertise in all components of specialized instruction: Content, Methodology and Delivery of Instruction Review student performance data to ensure students are meeting proficiency standards and guideposts Provide teachers and leaders with coaching and modeling to improve and refine teaching practice Conduct co-observations and instructional walkthroughs with school teams and Director of Student Support Serve as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies to improve student achievement for students with disabilities Support teachers in implementing continuous progress monitoring toward IEP goal mastery and reporting out student performance (i.e. IEP progress reports) Work with schools teams, teachers, and special education department leaders in using data to analyze special education performance trends Remain current with best practices and current research on teaching, learning, and disabilities Support onboarding and development of Special Education teachers case management skills Applies a variety of strategies to facilitate team effectiveness, collaboration, problem solving, leadership, meeting management, and conflict resolution Content and Curriculum Support (25%): Assist instructional staff in developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students Drive an instructional vision focused on academic rigor, “work worth doing,” and building student autonomy Support implementation of adapted and modified a standards aligned curriculum, scope and sequence, units, and lessons for students with disabilities across a continuum of educational settings Support teachers in creating and providing necessary resources for adapting and modifying curriculum Collaborate with school leaders, school teams and teachers in the areas of curriculum, instruction and teacher development Participate and collaborate in network content team meetings Support suite of special education learning programs School and Network Support (15%): Collaborate with school leaders, Director of Student Support, and network support staff on special education priorities Participate in Tier 3 meetings (as needed) Attend and participate in bi-weekly Student Support network meetings Promote the sharing of effective teaching practices among staff throughout the district Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of KIPPDC Train and support special education team members on selection and implementation of classroom/assessment accommodations Support all assessment implementation for students with an individualized education program Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (required) At least five years of successful school based special education experience preferably (strongly preferred) At least two years of successful coaching or leadership experience (preferred) Ability to build relationships, impact & influence, and motivate action A strong track record of positive student performance results either in literacy/math or across multiple content areas (required) A strong track record of data collection and implementation of modifications for high-incidence disability categories (required) Experience with comprehensive progress monitoring towards IEP goals (required) Experience unpacking grade-level standards, mapped to IEP goals (required) Experience adapting rigorous unit and lesson plans (required) Well-read and current on best practices in specialized instruction (required) A strong track record of facilitating teachers and/or leaders toward instructional improvement (strongly preferred) Experience designing leading compelling and useful professional development (strongly preferred) Experience using multiple assessment measures and observational data to determine coaching and professional development necessary to improvement in teaching and student performance (strongly preferred) Passion for education reform and the belief that every child can succeed; experience in K12 education (required) Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC’s mission and to advancing its anti-racist ambition through their work with staff, students, alumni, and families COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: KIPP DC offers an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package: The anticipated starting salary for this position is $84,179-$103,984. At KIPP DC we strive for clarity, equity, and to be highly competitive. When determining salaries we look at benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector. KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical. KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years. Currently, individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days, up to 10 paid sick days, and 12 paid holidays. This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter. As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities.
