Practice Area: Litigation - Workers' Compensation - Defense, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 1 Years, A law firm in Springfield is seeking an Attorney experienced in workers' compensation defense work to handle a variety of legal duties including case management, litigation, negotiation, and communication with claims representatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, legal acumen, and attention to detail. Duties:Gather and review medical evidence and recordsTake depositions of claimants, physicians, medical experts, and other partiesConduct discovery and perform legal researchDraft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documentsLitigate workers' compensation cases before administrative law judgesRepresent the interests of employers or insurers at hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, and other proceedingsCommunicate with claims representatives and monitor loss run reportsAssist with accident investigations and problem areasManage workers' compensation costs and compile required reportsNegotiate settlements on behalf of insurance companies/employersPerform other related duties as assigned Requirements:J.D. and proof of admission to Illinois Bar; passing the Bar in another Midwest state is a plusProven track record of progressive experience in workers’ compensation defense workWorking knowledge of legal principles and practicesIn-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulationsThorough understanding of legal research techniques and terminologyExperience with Microsoft Word and Outlook; Time Matters legal software experience preferredOutstanding organizational, interpersonal, research, and administrative skillsExcellent attention to detail and ability to multitaskStrong telephone and writing skillsDependability and ability to plan and organize effectively Benefits:Medical, dental, vision, critical illness, accident, and group term life insuranceVoluntary term life, short-term disability, and long-term disability coverage401(k)/Roth retirement plan with company matchPaid time off This Illinois firm's main specialty is in workers' compensation, general liability and civil litigation, and labor and employment law.
