Purpose of Role To assist with the development, supervision, coordination, and planning in the Office of Academic Advising. The Assistant Director is a key constituent for furthering student success and retention initiatives related to advising and will work collaboratively with the Director of Academic Advisement to meet the goals of improving student persistence and success. As a member of the Student Success and Title III Grant team, this position provides support for our overall office priorities and Title III grant goals and objectives support where appropriate. About This Opportunity Joining our Academic Advisement, Student Success Center team, the Assistant Director for Academic Advisement will be responsible for the following: Assist with overseeing daily functions and operations of the Office of Academic Advisement Serve as lead member on Campus CARE Team, coordinating early alert efforts and carrying out appropriate outreach with students/faculty, as well as conduct assessment of team efforts. Advisor to Undeclared students Instructor of ES 107: Major and Career Discovery Coordinate Undeclared Department Meetings (2x a Semester) Assist with the registration process for all incoming first year students. In support of Title III goals, coordinate the implementation of Sophomore Experience and transition programming. Assist with coordination and participation of all campus wide Orientation programs (First Year, Transfer, etc.) Further develop and assist with First Year Experience Serve as member of Undergraduate Advisory Committee on Academic Standards Provide support, advisement, counseling, and referrals to at-risk students, specifically first year students. Counsel probationary students. Counsel students on curriculum and success strategies. Participate in appropriate committees and meetings regarding Title III programmatic support. Track ongoing data of Title III supported programs and systems of outcome measures to be reported to the Title III Program Director Provide advisement support for faculty. Contribute towards student-centered environment. Other duties as may be assigned for the efficient operation of the Student Success Center Required Qualifications Master's degree required (preferably in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or related field) Minimum of three years' experience with higher education academic advising preferred. Program Development and Implementation experience. Dedicated to student success. Will contribute to and support the cultural fluency and diversity of our campus. Possess an enthusiastic and positive attitude. Maintain confidentiality in a discreet and professional manner. Effective and friendly communication skills with a variety of students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents. Experience supervising students' employees preferred. Proficient computer skills and experience (Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel). Proficient at learning new computer skills. Highly developed organizational skills. Self-starter, skilled at and open to exploring ways to improve current systems. Multi-tasker. Detail and accuracy oriented. Position is full time, twelve month, administrative, administrative exempt. Total Compensation Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes: Health insurance with an option of two plans: an HSA plan with the deductible funded by employer HSA contributions, or a copay plan.
