Requisition ID: 164957 Opportunity Type: Locum Estimated Annual Salary: 350,000 - 400,000 Type of Remuneration: AFP - Academic Funding Plan About the Opportunity The Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University is recruiting for a locum General Adult Psychiatrist Staff with s pecial skills, qualifications, and experience in concurrent disorders and running addiction services for Nova Scotia Health’s (NSH) Central Zone Community Mental Health and Addictions (CMHA) Program. This position is a 1.0 FTE based in Dartmouth City CMHT with the flexibility to work at other CMHTs (Cole Harbour and Cobequid/Hants CMHTs) sites based on the service needs. This is a 12-month locum - starting date is ASAP. The Department of Psychiatry is a mid-sized clinical academic department within the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Faculty work as members of multidisciplinary teams within the Nova Scotia Health Mental Health and Addiction Program to provide general psychiatric services to patients primarily in the Central Zone and specialty services to patients across the province. Roles and Responsibilities To be attending or consultant physician to ambulatory patients in the CMHA Program. Conduct, order and ensure appropriate psychiatric backssments, appropriate psychosocial and laboratory investigations, and pharmacological & psychosocial interventions as per current standard practice. Take part in a psychiatry on-call schedule as required within the clinical program unless specifically exempted. Share in the short-term coverage of other services as needed during holidays or illness of other members of the department. Experience working within an interdisciplinary team to provide care and treatment for persons with moderate to severe psychiatric disorders.
