Process Engineer for Injection Mold

Description:

MUST HAVE INJECTION MOLDING EXPERIENCE REPORT TO: General Manager of Production Engineering DESCRIPTION: Troubleshoot problems for the injection mold process, equipment and tooling. Implements engineering methods to improve methods and quality of products. Trains and guides process and die technicians. Updates and maintains documents to support process. Coordinates and implements engineering methods that support cost, quality and improvements. RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages Process Engineering Functions of technical staff to complete projects in a timely manner. Establishes standard practices for process engineering activities and documentation. Aware of operations, helping and directing as needed to improve production efficiency and quality. Communicate and provide technical support to other departments. Communicate and train technicians to improve process techniques. Aid in new launch projects Assist to compliance to IATF quality systems. PokaYoke (mistake-proof) manufacturing processes. Updating control conditions to match machine/process parameters. Support Maintenance as needed. Assist Process Technicians and Mold Setters to drive and facilitate process improvements. Reduce scrap from color or material changes. Reduce scrap from Molding defects such as short shot, splay, color streak etc. Increase machine uptime. Assist Tool and Die to troubleshoot tooling failure or quality issues. Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager. EDUCATION: High school diploma + 10 Years Maintenance Experience; or BS Degree in ME, IE, or ET; or AAS in Mechatronics, Maintenance, or Tooling EXPERIENCE: Strong knowledge troubleshooting and repairing injection mold machines Tooling Experience (Tool Repair, Function of Injection Tool/ Valve Gates) to provide input for changes and tool design Knowledge of materials and process and their interaction Experience with plastic industry Process experience in injection molding Star robotics or similar system preferred Continuous Improvement / LEAN Manufacturing experience preferred PLC / Automation Knowledge preferred, not required "Hands On" Mentality SKILLS: Experience working with Windows operating system as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Proficient in AutoCad, and/or Solidworks experience. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to write technical reports. Proficient at troubleshooting - root cause analysis and problem solving techniques. Proficient in forming, automation, and pokayoke processes. Knowledge of ISO/IATF. TRAINING SPECIFIC TO POSITION: Understanding of Injection Mold Tooling to provide input for changes and tool design. WORK ENVIROMENT: This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment the noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. PHYSICAL DEMAND: The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds The employee may also be required to work in hot temperatures.
