Perform pipeline construction, installation, maintenance and removal work on distribution pipelines. Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including: * Pipe and crescent wrenches * Pipe cutters and threaders * Hammers and screwdrivers * Picks, shovels, and rakes * Air compressors and generators * Plastic fusion irons * Jackhammers and concrete saws * Booms and chains * Air compressors and generators * Mini and large backhoe * Combustible Gas Indicators * Tap equipment * No blow equipment * Forklift * Respirators * Oxygen analyzerPerform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment including: * Washing truck and equipment * Fuel truck and checking fluid levels * Apply lubricants * Change oil and filters * Cleaning/adjusting toolsInvestigate customer related orders and emergency situations including: * Low Pressure calls * Class 1 Leaks * Blow lines * Fires/explosions * Undetectable linesRegular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job. Employee may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as assigned.What You Will NeedClass A CDL preferred At least two years of backhoe experience Knowledge of use, function and maintenance of manual tools and equipment applicable to the position. Knowledge of application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested). Knowledge of construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution pipeline systems. Working knowledge and training relative to: * Work in excavations and confined spaces * Basic customer service activities * Company and governmental operating/safety procedures * Fuse plastic pipe * Characteristics of natural gasKnowledge in basic computer functions and software. Understanding of how to read and interpret maps, atlas pages, blueprints, and job orders. Read and write fluently in English. Applicable driver's license. Qualified Plastic Fusion Technician certification. Applicable Operator Qualifications. Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds 10 15 times a day; up to 40 pounds 7 10 times a day; over 50 pounds 5 6 times a day. Climb into and out of excavations. Travel over uneven terrain including: * Mud * Gravel * Sand * Rocks * Ice * SnowReact immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others. Smell odorant in natural gas. Detect and react to warning signals at work sites. Operate tools and equipment. Communicate and exchange information and instructions including use of company two way radio and company cell phones. Peripheral vision and accurate depth perception.
