Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Propulsion Systems is currently seeking Manager, Programs 1 for the NASA SLS Program in Propulsion Systems supporting MSFC, AL and Promontory. The home location would be the Promontory, UT facility. Role description & Responsibilities: The Manager, Programs I will support coordination of Technical Directives and Task Orders. The candidate will specifically be responsible for monitoring period of performance and funding within those vehicles. The position is located at Promontory Utah as part of the SLS Program leadership team executing the existing programs and developing and executing business growth strategies. Periodic travel to our customer location in Huntsville, AL is anticipated. Job Duties: The Manager, Program I has the job duties listed below and is ultimately responsible for: Program Execution * Execute the program successfully in management of safety, quality, schedule, technology and cost.* Managing team to meet all production billing and revenue milestones* Needs to understand the processing of solid rocket motors and their components.* Continuously drive for results and challenge the status quo.* Have the capacity to understand people and provide mentorship.* Have proven ability to influence others. Company-Customer Interface * Represent Northrop Grumman as a company (bringing the Northrop Grumman message to the customer; develop a working relationship and understanding of customer needs to promote Northrop Grumman and meet customer needs).* Service the customer by executing the program and resolving issues in accordance with business objectives, strategy, legal requirements, regulations, contract terms, and company policies.* Balance the interests of the customer, Northrop Grumman, and employees.* Manage program participation in working group meetings.* Frequent request for proposal response and delegation to program and Propulsion Systems (PS) management* Conduct routine meetings with the customer to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities. Program Team Management * Provide overall leadership and direction to the program team (contracts, finance, Value Stream Element Team (VSET), engineering and operations, Material Program Manager) to include coaching team members, resolving conflict and contributing to performance reviews.* Establish and communicate program priorities.* Possess the proven ability to provide verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively.* Understand and manage change to the programs' baseline.* Meet master program plans and schedules by identifying and assessing risks, and initiating necessary corrective action.* Support resolution of line stoppages due to supply issues. Schedule Management * Ensure that the programs is on schedule to the program milestones and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).* Facilitate communication with Contracts for schedule requests/period of performance extensions from the customer* Understand Integrated Master Schedules, Integrated Factory Schedules and Earned Value Management principles. Financial Performance * Oversee budget management within the program and participate in monthly business management reviews and corporate reporting.* Forecast financial performance.* Look for creative ways to manage cost vs. risk and achieve cost allocations in line with TD and TO funding.* Align program actions and communications to achieve milestones. Contract Structure & Pricing * Assist in negotiating contracts, contract changes, contract pricing, contract terms and resolution of contract issues. Technical Performance * Drive technical excellence by setting program standards, working closely with the technical team and VSETs, balancing risk, and delivering performance. Business Development * Leverage the current programs to win new business with NASA. Education and Experience Requirements: * BS degree in Engineering (preferred), Business or Finance .* 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and at least 2-3 years of experience in leading multiple discipline teams.* A working knowledge of solid rocket design, fabrication, motor development and production.* Preferred experience in integration of the VSET concept with PS program execution.* Preferred experience in cost reduction strategies, lean manufacturing principles and quality improvement tools such as six sigma, Performance Enterprise System (PES) and/or Toyota Production System (TPS). Skills & Qualifications: * Familiarity with rocket motor production and qualification programs* Familiarity with Promontory factory operations, Test Research Operations and their organizational structure.* Experience with VSET management.* In-depth understanding of customer requirements, both technically and financially, to ensure customer needs are met.* Familiarity with rocket motor services, testing and motor integration. Travel: Job requires up to 25% travel. Salary Range: $109,300 - $163,900The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
